SpeedRunners 2 System Requirements: Can Your PC Run It?

FAQ

Can SpeedRunners 2 run on a low-end PC?
At the official minimum bar you need a Ryzen 5 1600 / Core i3-8100 CPU, 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1660 Super GPU — unusually high for a 2D racing game. Below that, expect lowered settings at your own risk; there is no official "below minimum" configuration.
Does SpeedRunners 2 need an SSD?
An SSD is recommended, not required. The install size is small — about 3 GB — so even a modest SSD partition comfortably holds it, and load times benefit.
How much RAM does SpeedRunners 2 need?
16 GB is the official minimum. That is the headline surprise in the requirements — plan around it rather than hoping 8 GB slides by.
Is SpeedRunners 2 on Steam Deck?
Not officially confirmed. The system requirements list Windows only — no SteamOS or Linux appears in the official OS row — and we have not verified Deck compatibility. Treat any Deck-ready claim as unconfirmed until Valve or the developers state it.

SpeedRunners 2 looks like a humble 2D platformer and then hands you a requirements list with a straight face: 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1660 Super at minimum. This page translates the official Steam requirements into plain language, explains why the bar sits where it does, and helps you decide what to do if your machine is under it.

The Official Requirements

Spec Minimum (official)
OS Windows 10 x64
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 1600 / Intel Core i3-8100
RAM 16 GB
GPU NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super
DirectX Version 11
Storage 3 GB available (SSD recommended)
Additional notes 64-bit OS required. Official note: “SSD is recommended. System requirements are subject to change.”

What Each Spec Means in Practice

CPU (Ryzen 5 1600 / i3-8100). These are 2017-era six-core / quad-core parts — the floor for simulating eight runners’ physics and the elimination camera without hitches. If your CPU is older, watch for stutter in full lobbies rather than low frame rates.

RAM (16 GB). The headline number, and the least forgiving one — there’s no settings slider for memory. If you run 8 GB, the game may still launch, but you’re outside every officially supported configuration; close everything else and temper expectations.

GPU (GTX 1660 Super). A 1080p-class card from 2019 at minimum tells you the HD art and effects stack is doing real work. The upside: cards at or above this bar should comfortably exceed 60 FPS at 1080p.

Storage (3 GB, SSD recommended). The install is tiny by modern standards; the SSD recommendation is about load times into races, where every second of waiting is a second your lobby is watching you load.

Under Minimum? Your Honest Options

  1. Try it anyway, informed. Steam’s refund window (under 2 hours played, within 14 days) exists precisely for testing whether a below-spec machine holds up. Test in a full eight-player lobby — that’s where weak hardware falls over, not in bot races.
  2. Console is a clean alternative. The game runs natively on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch — and it’s on Game Pass day one, so Xbox and PC Game Pass subscribers can test the PC build with no purchase risk at all.
  3. Reduce the variables. Background apps, overlays, and browser tabs all eat the RAM the game claims. The troubleshooting guide walks the full checklist — worth exhausting before concluding your hardware can’t cope.

Console Players: What Applies to You

System requirements are a PC concept — on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch the game simply targets the hardware. Two things still worth knowing: launch-window player reports mention stutter in some online sessions (see troubleshooting), and Switch owners should check the crossplay status page — Switch cross-platform play is delayed at launch, which shapes who you can race with even when performance is perfect.
