Forest Map in SpeedRunners 2: The Community Level That Made It In
Forest is a brand-new SpeedRunners 2 map built from a popular community-made level from the original game, rainforest-styled. What is verified.
FAQ
What is the Forest map in SpeedRunners 2?
Is Forest based on a Workshop map?
How many layouts does Forest have?
Some maps are designed; Forest was elected. It is the sequel’s tribute to the original game’s community level-makers — and the proof that SpeedRunners 2’s map pipeline runs through its own history.
The Official Record
- Brand-new, community-rooted. Forest is one of the “3 brand new maps: Museum, Moon, and Forest” (tinyBuild’s official list). The official account adds the origin: “a new map based on a popular community-made level from the original SpeedRunners” — and separately describes it as “based on the rainforests of Costa Rica.”
- Part of an official policy. The FAQ commits to bringing “popular SpeedRunners Workshop maps into the game with a fresh coat of paint” — Forest is the launch-window evidence that the policy is real, not just a roadmap line.
- Two layouts. The launch set is eight maps × two configurations (16 layouts, per the official feature list). Forest’s A and B layouts reshuffle the same rainforest terrain.
Why a Community Map Plays Different
A level built by a player and promoted by the studio arrives with a pedigree — the original’s community already stress-tested its racing lines. Two practical implications:
- The lines are honest. Community levels survive on feel — if a route became popular, it earned it. Expect the fast line to reward exactly what the movement techniques guide trains: momentum through grapple swings, no-stop sections.
- More are coming. Officially, more original maps and Workshop adaptations arrive through the one-to-two-month update cadence — the patch notes page tracks each drop. Forest is the first, not the last.
Racing a Rainforest
The map-specific mechanic mix is being verified against the live build — what is documented now is the theme and the system every map draws from (the six mechanics). What a rainforest skin typically does to that vocabulary, as expectation rather than documentation:
- Canopy = ceiling routes. Overhanging greenery is the natural costume for grapple-able blue-ceiling sections — the aerial line over a floor route.
- **Dense growth = chokes. Vegetation-framed corridors reward slides and punish wide lines — prime Trap territory.
- Two layouts, two forests. Same trees, different race: lever routes and pick-up seeds change between configurations.
What Is Not Yet Verified
- The specific mechanics and section layout of each configuration.
- Which original community level Forest adapts (not officially named).
- Whether the map appeared in the August playtest in a different form.
