FAQ

What does the Rocket do in SpeedRunners 2?
The Rocket is a missile pick-up that strikes runners ahead of you — a ranged attack for chasing. The official achievement "Two Runners, One Rocket" rewards hitting two opponents with a single rocket.
Is the Rocket in the original SpeedRunners?
Yes — missiles are among the original game’s officially described weapons, and the Rocket returns in the sequel’s eight returning pick-ups. The store listing also name-drops fireball-class power-ups alongside it.
How do you dodge a Rocket in SpeedRunners 2?
Rockets punish straight, committed lines. Break line of sight with hard grapples, slides and map geometry — the same movement techniques that win races are your missile defense.

The Rocket is SpeedRunners 2’s missile — the pick-up that turns a race into a shooting gallery. It is one of the sequel’s eight returning pick-ups, and one of the best-sourced items in the game: its own achievement names it.

The Official Record

  • The achievement settles the name. The official achievement list includes “Two Runners, One Rocket” — hit 2 opponents with the same item. That is the in-game name, straight from the developers, plus a hint at its splash or piercing behavior.
  • A returning weapon. The original SpeedRunners store page described racing with “weapons like missiles, mines and grappling hooks” — the missile line of the family tree the sequel draws from.
  • Part of a combat-heavy item pool. The SpeedRunners 2 store listing promises “game-changing power-ups” and name-drops several in its description — the Rocket slots into that chaos layer alongside the Freezing Ray and the Golden Hook.

When to Throw It

Strategy survives without official damage numbers, because the Rocket’s logic is positional:

  • Throw when you are behind. A missile does nothing for first place — the threats are behind you. The Rocket is the chaser’s tool, full stop.
  • Throw early, not perfect. Damage in SpeedRunners is about forcing mistakes: a hit that makes the leader flinch mid-swing is a position gained, even if they survive.
  • Hunt committed lines. A runner locked into a long grapple arc or a ceiling run cannot bail out. The achievement’s two-birds condition is easiest on packed routes — maps with choke points do the aiming for you.
  • Mind the loop. Races loop; a thrown-but-missed Rocket is not your problem anymore, but your lead is always someone else’s target. When leading, you want traps and defense, not missiles.

When It Is Coming for You

You will hear about the Rocket long before you see numbers on a wiki — here is how the dodge actually works:

  1. Stop moving predictably. Straight ceiling runs and rhythmic grapples are missile food. Break your own pattern.
  2. Use geometry. Hard turns, wall jumps and drops put map between you and the shot — see movement techniques.
  3. Remember blocking exists. The official achievements “Not This Time” and “Predictable” reward blocking items with a Crate — blocking is a real, tracked mechanic — whether a Crate stops a Rocket specifically is not yet verified against the live build.

What Is Not Yet Verified

  • Damage and hit rules. Not officially published. Whether one rocket can eliminate, or only disrupt, will be verified against the live build.
  • Availability per mode. Pick-ups are core to race design, but per-mode availability is still being verified — bot races are the safe practice ground.
