Superspeed in SpeedRunners 2: The Speed Boost Guide
Superspeed is SpeedRunners 2’s returning boost pick-up, confirmed by the "Fastest Runner Around" achievement. When to pop it — timing over reflex.

When should you use Superspeed?
Superspeed is the purest expression of what SpeedRunners is: a button that makes the fast game faster. It is also one of the best-evidenced pick-ups in the sequel — an official achievement is literally named after using it.
The Official Record
- The achievement names the play. The official achievement list includes “Fastest Runner Around” — its unlock condition tracks 10 uses of Superspeed. The item is real, returning, and rewarded.
- An original with heritage. In the original SpeedRunners, super-speed was woven into the game’s identity — the store page advertised custom trails that light up “when you hit super-speed.” The boost was the flex; the trail was the proof.
- Eight returning, two new. The store listing confirms ten launch pick-ups; the August playtest named Lightning Watch and Plasma Blaster as the two new ones. Superspeed is on the returning side of that split.
When to Pop It
A speed boost sounds like a “press when ahead” item. It is subtler — boost is a positional tool:
- Straight lines you can hold. Boost multiplies whatever you are doing. On a clean ceiling run or a long floor straight, it compounds; into a wall or a bad grapple, it amplifies a mistake.
- Out of chokes, not into them. The fastest exit from a crowded choke is rarely through it — see how routes layer up in all maps. Save the boost for the moment the field thins.
- Defensively, after the chaos. When a Rocket whiffs or a Freezing Ray eats the leader, the pack bunches — that is when raw speed buys the most distance per second.
- Not while leading cleanly. Ahead and clean, other pick-ups defend better; boost while unthreatened mostly shortens a race you were already winning.
Momentum First, Boost Second
The original game’s competitive lesson holds in the sequel: super-speed rewards players who already have momentum. Swings, slides, wall jumps and slope jumps — the full movement techniques kit — are where speed comes from; Superspeed multiplies it. A boosted runner with bad lines loses to an unboosted runner with good ones.
What Is Not Yet Verified
- Boost duration and magnitude. Not officially published; balance moves with the one-to-two-month update cadence, and this page re-verifies with each patch.
- Trail customization. The original lit custom trails at super-speed; whether SpeedRunners 2 keeps that — and which cosmetics do it — is being verified against the live build.
